Gear Pump
Category: Pump
Overview
External gear pumps transfer fluid by meshing two identical gears that rotate in opposite directions inside a close-tolerance housing. Fluid is carried in the spaces between gear teeth around the outer circumference and discharged as the teeth mesh. The positive-displacement design delivers a near-constant flow rate independent of back pressure, making gear pumps the preferred choice for metering, blending, and high-viscosity transfer duties. Flow rate is directly proportional to shaft speed, enabling precise control via variable-speed drives.
